Important reminder: Reporting requirements for ADF personnel

ADF On-base Medical Officers (MOs), health practitioners and On-base Health Centre staff are reliant on timely access to health reporting and information. In order to ensure effective clinical management of the on-going health needs of ADF personnel, it is crucial this documentation is communicated quickly and accurately by GHS providers.

The key timeframe: five business days.

GHS would like to remind all providers that written health reports must be submitted in line with the following timeframes:

Medical Specialists

  • After each consultation a written Health Report must be submitted within five business days.

Allied Health providers

  • After the initial consultation, a written Health Report, including a treatment plan, must be submitted within five business days.
  • At the completion of each set of six consultations, a further written Health Report is required within five business days (only if there is relevant information to communicate to the referring ADF MO).
  • When treatment is complete, a written Health Report must be submitted within five business days.

Dentists

  • After the initial consultation, a written Health Report, including a treatment plan, must be submitted within five business days.
  • When treatment is complete, a written Health Report must be submitted within five business days.

Additional fees should not be charged for communicating this information to the referring MO, which is considered standard medical practice. Additional comprehensive reports may be requested as required by the ADF in which case the report will be treated as a Restricted Service.  For more information, please review the GHS Operational Procedures Guidelines.
