Travel health
We provide travel health services to help travellers stay healthy and safe when working or holidaying overseas.
The Travel Doctor-TMVC (short for 'Travellers Medical and Vaccination Centre') is the travel health arm of Medibank Heath Solutions.
For many years, The Travel Doctor-TMVC has supplied travel health-related services to government agencies, corporate Australia, as well as locally-based international aid organisations and volunteer agencies. The services include:
- Pre- and post-travel medical consultations, including fitness for deployment or posting reviews.
- Destination-specific travel health consultations and vaccinations.
- Psychological services to both ease the transition with overseas postings, as well as critical incident support and review.
- Up-to-date international health advice and destination-specific fact sheets.
- Specially designed traveller's medical kits.
We also help to prepare an employee and their family for a position in a foreign country. Managing psychological issues around moving to another country quite often determines the success of an overseas posting. If unsuccessful, this can be a rather expensive process. And not only financially for both employer and employee. The personal cost for the employee, in particular can be huge.
In turn, our psychological services aim to help manage the emotional impact of overseas posting and ensure a smooth transition.
We also work with organisations to better understand the risks staff face when travelling for work. And we help to develop policies, procedures and support so that travellers are best prepared to stay healthy and fit when working away from home.
