Health surveillance
Health surveillance can assist employers minimise the risk to worker health of exposure to hazardous substances.
Health surveillance may be required if exposure to hazardous substances represents a significant risk to health. A workplace assessment may be necessary to determine this risk.
Our health surveillance services can assist employers minimise the risk to worker health of exposure to hazardous substances by:
- confirming if the absorbed dose is below the accepted level.
- assessing if the exposure is having a biological effect on the worker, and/or
- collecting data to evaluate the ongoing effects of exposure.
We conduct health surveillance required by statute and as well as other necessary health screening. This includes periodic health assessments conducted for legislative compliance, testing for hazardous substances or testing to detect any early signs of occupational injury or illness.
Our occupational physicians and designated 'Lead and Hazardous Substances Medical Officers' manage health surveillance services and can assist in determining health surveillance requirements.
