'Beat diabetes - a short course for a long life'

Our lifestyle management program is run as eight small group sessions over a six month period. The program is available to people who are referred by a GP and who:

  • are aged between 40 - 49 years or 15 - 54 years for aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders
  • are identified as being at high risk of type 2 diabetes using a specific risk assessment tool
  • have not already been diagnosed as having diabetes, and
  • have not previously completed any government-funded Lifestyle Management Program.

The program aims to give you the understanding and support to improve your nutrition and healthy eating patterns and to increase physical activity.

At the end of the program, we provide you and your referring GP with a written report on your progress in making lifestyle changes to prevent the onset of diabetes.
